Girlhood.

Girls on the Mat began with an undeniable truth: most of women’s deepest wounds trace back to girlhood.

The years when we first begin to notice our bodies, our voices, our place in the world—those years shape us in ways we often carry, quietly and painfully, into adulthood.

I founded Girls on the Mat out of decades of experience as a licensed psychotherapist, yoga teacher, and retreat leader.

GOTM meets girls before those wounds take root. We have expertly created age-appropriate, trauma-informed programming.

GOTM Facilitators blend movement, breath, reflection, and community throughout our trauma-informed curriculum. Girls learn tools to trust their bodies, steady their emotions, and recognize they belong to themselves.

GOTM Founder

History doesn’t have to repeat itself.

Girls on the Mat was born from years of teaching yoga and leading women’s therapeutic healing retreats, where I witnessed how the unhealed wounds of girlhood quietly shape our adult lives. Out of that realization, I began rewriting both my curriculum and, in many ways, my own girlhood.

What I have come to know is this:
When we heal girls, we heal women.
When we heal women, we save girls.

Girls on the Mat’s skillful and professional curriculum embodies this sacred reciprocity of healing.

Our Mission

To utilize yoga, mindfulness, and therapeutic tools to help girls develop emotional literacy, as well as embedded and embodied self-worth.

Girls on the Mat seeks to revolutionize girlhood one breath at a time.

GOTM Values

Our core values, WATER, anchor the work we do. They represent the strength and adaptability we nurture in girls: the ability to flow through life’s obstacles, to stay grounded in self-awareness, and to shape a path that remains both resilient and free.

  • We honor the body, mind, and spirit as inseparable — teaching girls that they are already complete.

  • We teach emotional literacy — helping girls recognize, name, and honor their inner experience as the foundation for wise action.

  • We practice stillness and deep breathing techniques to cultivate honesty with ourselves and others, creating a space where voices are valued, trusted, and celebrated.

  • Our space is haven for girls as they grow and develop. We learn and practice empathy for ourselves and for others.

  • We cultivate the inner steadiness to meet challenges with wisdom and appropriate adaptability.
