GIRLS ON THE MAT, Inc.
Revolutionizing Girlhood. One breath at a time.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization designed to strengthen girls’ mental health and spiritual well-being.
Through a curriculum developed by a mental health professional and seasoned healer, we teach emotional literacy through movement, breathwork, and community tailored for girls’ well-being.
Finding Language Within
We help girls attune to what’s happening inside and find words that honor what their bodies already know. Through gentle check-ins, shared reflection, and a GOTM Feeling Map, they learn to name body signals, emotions, and needs—without judgment. Together, they practice turning awareness into language and language into connection.
Steadying The Nervous System
Before we can name what’s wrong, the body already knows.
We help guide GIRLS to listen to the early signals of stress/anxiety/fear and to use movement, breath, and awareness to bring the nervous system back into a state of safety.
Our program is a science-based, choice-driven approach that teaches girls what it feels like to come home to themselves.
Belonging in Real Time
As we explore themes from yoga philosophy, such as Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truthfulness), girls reflect on how these teachings show up in their own bodies and daily lives.
Through honest conversation and shared experience, empathy unfolds naturally; they begin to see their feelings and stories mirrored in one another. Each session includes accessible, body-based practices to integrate during our time together and to carry into the wild between gatherings
Embodied Wisdom.
Wisdom grows through practice and reflection. We help each girl chooses a small Ripple Action to carry into her daily life—before a test, at practice, or during a hard moment with a friend—and later reflects on what she noticed, what helped, and what she might try next.
Together, the GOTM community celebrates small victories, normalizes do-overs, and tracks growth over time. These gentle rhythms strengthen both mental health and their inner life—cultivating purpose, values, and self-trust.
Ripple Actions
A small, specific action a girl chooses to try in the next 7 days that spreads care and belonging (at home, school, or on a team). This lets her practice her GOTM tools in real life.

“I always have to drag my daughter out of the house or off her phone, and the second day of camp, she was dragging me out the door! I couldn’t believe it!”
